2010-11 Individual Membership Registrations
Membership
The success of judo as a sport is linked to its membership levels. The records indicate many clubs could promote greater membership (including temporary membership for up to two weeks) and Judo Federation of Australia grades and certificates. The Association policies are intended to give the sport and your club a high standing in the community.
The process for of membership registration from 1 July 2010
The new distinctive membership application form supersedes all other forms and these are to be directly mailed to the Registrar, Michael Hill, at the address on the top of the form, which is: JFAQ membership P.O. Box 242 Sandgate Qld 4017
Payment options remain to make a direct credit to the Association bank and post the transaction receipt with the membership application form or post a cheque or money order with the form. Please complete the forms with care to save time-consuming re-work.
Check of club membership records
If you would like to check, please contact Michael Hill for a print-out of your club’s membership records, including which memberships are now falling due.

Books and cards
Currently the national grading syllabus is being revised with an aim to have a straight progression of grades without dropping down two belts when a person changes age categories. The membership books will not be reproduced until the new requirements for the grading system are known. Cards will continue to be issued, and Michael will send the cards to the nominated club administrators at the end of each month.
On-line registration system
The JFAQ is trialling a new web-based membership application and payment system which is currently in-use for other businesses. If successful, the new system will be implemented during August 2010. The new system will give the same functionality to club administrators as previously available.
Discounts for renewing memberships prior to 14 August 2010
In recognition that the Association was not able to provide timely information to members during the period in the lead up to the National Championships due to the on-line system not being available, the following incentives have been implemented for renewing memberships.
- For members who’s renewals fell due in March or April, or May 2010, if the renewal is received by 14th August 2010, these members may renew membership at the non-lapsed price rather than the lapsed membership price, meaning a $20 saving
- Members who are 16 and 17 years old now can pay a junior registration fee rather than an adult fee meaning a $40 saving
Volunteer membership
This class of membership at $10 cost was introduced in December 2009. It is intended to provide recognition, public liability insurance, and formal acceptance of JFA codes of conduct by anyone performing a role for the sport, particularly on club committees. It is not available to members in active judo participation as coaches, referees and other participants. It is Association policy that anyone performing function, or role, or job, benefit from membership, and particularly the insurance coverage.
